  • Settings: Three hundredÐeleven patients that attended primary care or specialty clinics at a university health center and who received medications from the pharmacy participated in the study.
  • Intervention: The interventions studied were: Group 1 did not receive a reminder (control group); Group 2 received a postcard reminder; Group 3 received a telephone call reminder.
  • Evaluation Method: Measure of refill compliance.
  • Quality of Care and Patient Safety Outcome: There was a significant difference between the overall mean rate of compliance between the control and intervention groups. An increase in refill compliance for all groups occurred over three months. There was no significant difference in compliance between the treatment groups.
