A National Web Conference on Privacy and Security Solutions for Interoperable Health Information Exchange

Overall Purpose:

This national Web conference presented the preliminary findings of AHRQ's contract with RTI International, entitled Privacy and Security Solutions for Interoperable Health Information Exchange. It included a summary of 34 separate interim reports submitted by the 33 states and 1 territory that form the Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration (HISPC). The goals of the contract are to identify the sources of variation in business practices, policies and state laws related to privacy and security that affect the electronic exchange of health data. The speaker provided an overview of the project's goals, methods, and preliminary findings from the interim assessment of variation and analysis of solutions reports. The presentation also covered the current status of the remaining reports and the target dates for distribution of those reports.
