Kevin Johnson, M.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Biomedical Informatics, with a joint appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. He is a graduate of Dickinson College in Pennsylvania, where he majored in Biology, with a minor in Computer Science. From there he received a Medical Degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. As a medical student, he was involved with numerous research projects but was particularly interested in database development and the uses of advanced technologies for capturing clinical data. His interest in medical informatics culminated in a Master's Degree in the field from Stanford University. He returned to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1992, where he served as Pediatric Chief Resident. He was a member of the faculty in both Pediatrics and Biomedical Information Sciences at Johns Hopkins until 2002, when he and his family were recruited to Vanderbilt University.
