Anita Samarth Anita Samarth

Anita Samarth is a Founder and Principal with ASTECH Consulting, where she assists healthcare institutions and national initiatives in their health IT efforts. She is currently leading Technical Assistance activities for the AHRQ National Resource Center for Health Information Technology.

Ms. Samarth has more than thirteen years of experience in the health care and technology industries in both management and delivery positions. With ASTECH Consulting, she has worked on use case development for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and led interoperability efforts at the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT). Previously, she was a Program Director at the eHealth Initiative (eHI), National Practice Manager for the Clinical Information Systems Consulting practice for GE Healthcare Information Technologies (GE-HCIT), Practice Manager at First Consulting Group (now Computer Sciences Corporation), and Senior Consultant with Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in the areas of health care and technology consulting. Ms. Samarth has provided leadership in the areas of business strategy, operations and financial management, marketing, pre-sales consulting, product design, and toolset development.

Her consulting background includes strategy, business planning, vendor selection, contract negotiations, workflow redesign, integration, development, and program/project management expertise in clinical information systems and health information exchange. She has provided consulting and implementation management services to state/regional initiatives, large integrated health systems, hospitals, physician group practices, and health benefits service providers.

Ms. Samarth has published and presented at industry conferences on various topics surrounding health information technology procurement and implementation. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees from Johns Hopkins University in Biomedical Engineering and in Electrical Computer Engineering.
