Team Description

The Colorado Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration (HISPC) project is a subcontract to RTI International who holds the prime contract funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Office of the National Coordinator. The nationwide Privacy and Security project calls for all participating states to analyze and address the privacy and security concerns that are barriers to appropriate sharing of electronic health information. Colorado Governor Bill Owens designated the Colorado Health Institute (CHI), an independent not-for-profit health information and policy analysis institute, to manage the year-long HISPC subcontract. CHI also currently serves as the facilitator for Colorado's developing Regional Health Information Organization, CORHIO. Colorado HISPC involves several phases of work and will provide opportunity for input from a broad array of Coloradans in all regions of the state. This project is an important opportunity to ensure that privacy and security protections are designed into Colorado's new systems for sharing electronic health information to improve health and health care in our state.

How to get involved

The HISPC project involves many volunteers and provides an opportunity for input from any interested stakeholders. Information about the structure, scheduled meetings and activities of the HISPC working groups will be available for review through the CORHIO Web site (www.corhio.org). At various intervals throughout the project, stakeholders will be provided opportunities to review and comment on analysis of business practices, potential solutions, and plans to implement these solutions. Working group meetings are open for attendance by any interested parties
