He will discuss the direction of e-prescribing within the context of advances, potential pitfalls, and implications for safety, efficiency and cost. He will review existing research and identify key areas for new research.  Dr. Carrow will discuss challenges specific to implementing e-prescribing of controlled substances and potential impacts on medication management.  He will present findings from a recent survey of physician attitudes toward e-prescribing of controlled substances, as well as plans to combine prescription monitoring and e-prescribing data to measure medication adherence.
